Hope for Healing Foundation

SIMPLE   CLASSIC     ELEGANT

When I moved to St. Louis on December 31, 1999, I’d never been that far away from my North Carolina home before. After a few months of trying to get settled in here away from my realm of familiar, I felt something was missing.  I decided it was time to find a furry companion, so I headed to the Humane Society to begin my search.

There were a lot of dogs in the shelter that day, and most would bark and jump at me as I walked by their space. They were all ready to go home with someone. I remember thinking that it was going to be a hard choice, because I love every dog I meet. Next thing I knew, there she was!  This cute silky black dog was just sitting at her window under the nameplate “Hope”, looking at me and wagging her tail back and forth across the floor, saying “pick me, pick me!” I knew immediately that she was the one.  Hope the Flat Coat Retriever had chosen ME.

Hope Pet PhotographyI took that cute 6 month old puppy home with me where she would become the best companion I could have ever asked for. Always there for me, always so well mannered (most of the time), always welcoming friends and clients into my home; Hope was sweet, kind and most of all, patient.  She loved everyone she met and they loved her right back.

Hope was with me for 16 years.  We packed in a lot during her lifetime, although 16 years seemed way too short.  Anyone who has had a furry companion knows that saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do….ever!  They certainly take a piece of your heart with them when they cross that rainbow bridge. Hope for Healing

So in honor of Hope, I created Hope for Healing Foundation because losing a pet is like losing a family member.  The heart abounds with a mix of good memories and a painful ache that can take a long time to heal.  In missing them, we look for ways to keep their memory alive and honor what they meant to us.  I believe photographs can help human companions who miss their furbaby begin that healing process.  I believe everyone should have a Legacy Portrait of their baby!

Yorkie Senior Dog Pet Photography PortraitDue to the generous donations of those who love what I do, this service is complimentary. Donations are from clients who feel they can afford to contribute to their own pet’s portrait, from past clients who have given a monetary gift in memory of their pet, or by donations given by people who have a heart for furry companions as much as we do and want you to have a Legacy Portrait of your baby.

We reserve one Hope for Healing photography session per month.
